Tanja Gihr is Managing Director and Head of Northern Europe Debt Capital Markets and Sustainability at Lloyds Banking Group. She has more than 20 years of experience advising financial institutions on funding, capital and balance sheet strategies across European capital markets. Prior to joining Lloyds, Tanja spent almost 20 years at Barclays, where she led FIG DCM coverage for the Nordics and the Netherlands, covered Barclays’ own Treasury for over a decade and was a founding member of Barclays’ pioneering Covered Bond team. Throughout her career she has executed hundreds of billions of euros of funding transactions across covered bonds, senior and subordinated debt, securitisation and sustainable finance formats. Most recently, Tanja served as Head of Sustainable Banking Group EMEA at Barclays, where she established and led one of the industry's first ESG Advisory platforms, advising boards, management teams and investors on sustainable finance and transition strategies. This role complemented her deep capital markets expertise and broadened her perspective on the evolving role of sustainability within funding and capital markets. Tanja is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and market forums on covered bonds, bank funding, capital markets and sustainable finance.
