Wojtek Niebrzydowski
Wojtek Niebrzydowski is vice president, global term funding, treasury at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), located in Toronto, Canada. He is responsible for term funding and capital issuance in addition to development and structuring of the bank’s own assets RMBS, ABS, synthetic, covered bond and credit risk mitigation programs in the context of funding, liquidity, balance sheet and regulatory capital management. Wojtek has been with the bank since 1996 in various treasury and balance sheet management capacities in Canada and the US. Before joining CIBC, Wojtek worked at the Canadian operations of American Express, most recently in the role of the treasurer. He graduated with an MBA from Schulich Business School, York University, Toronto, Canada. He is also the current treasurer and past president of the Canadian Asset and Liability Management Association. He was the initiator and key participant in the industry initiative that culminated in establishment of Canadian covered bond legal framework in 2012. Since its inaugural EUR deal in September 2008, CIBC has been an active global covered bond market participant having periodically issued in five currencies, including landmark deals in 2010 that effectively created USD and AUD covered bond markets in their current form post the global financial crisis, as well as in 2016, the first negative yield EUR trade not supported by ECB purchase programmes.
